The wide variety of experiences range from hiking towering dunes, strolling soft sand beaches to exploring trails through the dense forest land; its all available and much more!

Many parks offer great amenities such as shelters, picnic tables, grills, restrooms, etc. while others are considered more natural areas; either way many of these lands were acquired to preserve the natural assets of our area and offer residents and visitors an opportunity enjoy the great outdoors.

Gillette Sand Dune Visitor Center

Bird and wildlife watching, dune exhibits, nature slide shows, guided nature hikes, winter programs, scheduled snowshoe hikes, and "hands-on" children's classroom in P.J. Hoffmaster State Park . 6585 Lake Harbor Road, 5 miles north of Grand Haven. Take US 31 north to Pontaluna Road. Travel west. Gillette Nature Center Activities & Events (231) 798-3573. 

P.J. Hoffmaster State Park

A beautiful state park on Lake Michigan with sand dunes and heavily forested natural areas. Offers hiking trails, beach area, Gillette Sand Dune Nature Center, camping, picnic areas, and x-country skiing. 6585 Lake Harbor Road, 5 miles north of Grand Haven. Grand Haven State Park

A popular beach located south of the Grand Haven pier and lighthouse that offers beach-side camping and beach area with bathhouse and pavilion. Within walking distance of the downtown shops and restaurants. 1001 Harbor Drive, 1 mile west of downtown Grand Haven. Ottawa County Parks and Programs

There are 13 different parks under Ottawa County Parks & Recreation Commission. Ottawa County Parks runs different nature programs throughout the year. Some of the programs include Photography Workshop, Star Gazing Party, Butterfly Count, Nature Hikes, Birding Trips, Cross Country & Snowshoe Clinics and Kayak Trips.
